Electric Literature - Animation Hotline

2011

Mary Otis wrote the story “Where We Missed Was Everywhere” and chose the sentence “We shake as hard as we can, dancing without moving, as if the lady is coming, and she’ll save us for free” to be animated.

Electric Literature commissioned Dustin Grella to participate in their Single Sentence Animation Project.  Single Sentence Animations are creative collaborations. The writer selects a favorite sentence from his or her work and the animator creates a short film in response. The animation was then published alongside the story.  “Where We Missed Was Everywhere” is available in the Electric Literature Journal No.6.

Electric Literature is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2009 with a mission to amplify the power of storytelling with digital innovation, and to ensure that literature remains a vibrant presence in popular culture by supporting writers, embracing new technologies, and building community to broaden the audience for literature. They pay all their writers and offer their content for free.
