Tax Day
2012
Performance
On Tax Day, April 17, 2012, Dustin Grella, a C-7 quadriplegic, scaled the steps of the James A. Farley Post Office in New York City with his taxes in his mouth to call attention to the fact that so many post offices in Manhattan are still inaccessible. The performance was combined with an exhibition displaying 3650 letters from the Notes To Self project at the AC Institute gallery.
This performance/variable media art work was made possible, in part, by the Franklin Furnace Fund supported by Jerome Foundation; the Lambent Foundation Fund of Tides Foundation, and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
